Richest Coaches (2026): Nick Saban Leads at $200M
The richest coach in the world is Nick Saban, worth an estimated $200 million in 2026, and he got there by earning the biggest paycheck in college sports for the better part of two decades and then reinvesting it. That is the pattern across this entire list: the wealthiest coaches were rarely the highest earners in any single year, they were the ones who stayed employed for decades, negotiated escalating salaries, and built businesses and media careers on the side while their players came and went.
This is our running ranking of the richest coaches by estimated net worth, spanning American football, basketball and soccer. Each name links to a full profile breaking down their contracts, endorsements, business holdings and what they own, plus a separate life-story biography. Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the richest coach in the world?+
Nick Saban is the richest coach, worth an estimated $200 million. The former Alabama football coach earned more than $10 million a year at his peak, the highest pay in college sports, and built a second fortune off the field through his Dream Motor Group car dealerships and endorsement deals.
Who is the richest soccer manager?+
Among soccer managers, Diego Simeone and Jose Mourinho lead, each with an estimated net worth around $130 to $135 million. Pep Guardiola sits just behind them. Their wealth comes from a decade-plus of top salaries at Europe's biggest clubs, plus large severance payouts when they were let go.
Why are some coaches richer than the players they coach?+
Longevity. A star player earns huge sums for eight to twelve years, then the paychecks stop. A top coach can draw a seven or eight figure salary for two or three decades, so the total career earnings stack up. The wealthiest coaches also added businesses, media deals and endorsements on top of the sideline pay.
