Early Life Bob Dylan: Robert Allen Zimmerman – now known as Bob Dylan – was born on May 24, 1941, in Duluth, Minnesota. For six years, his parents – Abram Zimmerman and Beatrice Stone – raised him in Duluth. They were a part of a small, close-knit Jewish community.
