John Joseph Travolta looks tall not just on screen but also in person as he stands 6 ft and 2 inches. His parents, Salvatore Travolta and Helen Cecilia Burke, raised him in an Irish-American neighborhood. Though he was raised as Roman Catholic, he eventually converted to Scientology in 1975.

Just like any other aspiring celebrities in the film industry, John Travolta started his career as a school dropout and had been a Broadway cast.  Afterward, he moved to the Hudson River to New York City. At his young age, 24 years old, he was one of the youngest actors nominated for the Best Actor in Oscars Award. Travolta received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for Tony Manero in “Saturday Night Fever.”

After his movie hit “Urban Cowboy” in 1980, John Joseph Travolta is also active in commercials. He also encountered commercial and critical failures that sidelined his acting career, and such films include “Two of a Kind” in 1983 and “Perfect” in 1985.
