Shaun Roger White, popularly known as Shaun White, is an American professional skateboarder, snowboarder, actor, and musician. Taking the snowboarding world by storm, he’s considered the richest snowboarder as of 2021.

But not only that….

White also made a name in the skateboarding world; that’s why he’s named as the first person to compete and win both the Summer and Winter X Games in two different sports.

Looks like he has fun collecting medals. Since 2002 he has won 13 gold medals, three silver and two bronze.

Skiing was the first sport of Shaun; however, he switched to snowboarding due to his older brother Jesse.

He was six when he started his snowboarding career, and a year later, he already received his first sponsorship, the Burton Snowboards.

On the other hand…

White started his skateboarding career at the same time. Having the same skate park, the nine-year-old Shaun got the chance to befriend one of the most influential skateboarders, Tony Hawk.

Seeing great potential in him, Hawk mentored him and helped him turn into a pro at skateboarding at sixteen.

Shaun competed in the Summer X Games of 2007 and 2011, where he received two gold medals, two silver, and one bronze.

Going back to his snowboarding journey…

White became the youngest athlete to win the U.S. Open Snowboarding  Championships at the age of sixteen.

He won the European snowboarding contest Air & Style in 2003 and 2004 and was named “Burton Global Open Champion” when he won the Burton US Open in 2007.

Shaun received a massive award from the said Burton Championships, such as $100 000 for being the Global Open Champion, $20,000 for coming first place in the half-pipe, $90,000 for coming 3rd in the Slopestyle, and a brand new Corvette.

His first Olympics game…

In 2006, Shaun competed in his first Winter Olympics game. He was nineteen at that time when he won his first Olympic gold medal in half-pipe.

50 being the highest possible score, he had a recorded score of 46.50 for his final run. His fellow American won the silver with a points total of 44.0

The journey continues…

Shaun earned his third consecutive snowboard half-pipe title at the 2008 U.S Open Snowboarding Championships.

Later that year, he released his first video game, “Shaun White Snowboarding,” which became the 20th best-selling game of December in the United States.

In 2009, Shaun won his SuperPipe gold medal against Kevin Pearce at the Winter X Games, having six hits and his big backside rodeo 450.

His second Olympic game…

White competed and won his second gold medal in the 2010 Winter Olympics held in Vancouver, Canada. For his first run, he recorded a score of 46.8 and had his well-anticipated Double McTwist 1260, which he named the Tomahawk.

Another history has been made when he became the first person in Winter X Games to score a perfect 100 in the men’s Snowboard SuperPipe

As if that’s enough..

White won his 6th consecutive SuperPipe victory.

That same year, he joined the FIS Snowboard World Cup held at the Copper Mountain, Colorado, and came third place in the Pipe and Slope contest in 2013.

For his third Winter Olympics, Shaun came fourth in the half-pipe event.

But on his fourth Winter Olympics game…

Shaun won his third Olympic gold medal for the Men’s half-pipe even though he had an accident prior, resulting in 62 stitches in the face.

But wait, there’s more…

White proved that he’s not only limited to the sports world when he entered the music and entertainment industry.

He made his first cameo appearance as himself in the 2011 hit movie “Friends with Benefits,” followed by an episode in the “American Dad” in 2013 and Disney Channel Original Movie “Cloud 9” in 2014.

He also joined  and played the guitar in his band “ Bad Things.” They played in one of the four Saturday of the 2013 Lollapalooza festival and released their self-titled debut album in January 2014.
