Kevin Ross Adkisson, known as Kevin Von Erich, is a former professional wrestler in the United States.

Sadly…

…he’s also the last surviving son of all the Von Erich sons.

Jack Jr., the firstborn child of the von Erich brothers, was killed at six in a domestic accident in 1959. Due to an unexpected reason, in 1959, David Von Erich died in Japan.

However, it is widely thought that he overdosed on drugs. Mike, Chris, and Kerry committed suicide in 1987, 1991, and 1993. All the von Erich died were talented wrestlers.

Jerry’s father is an American retired professional wrestler. All the Von Erichs were talented wrestlers.

Early Life

In May 1957, Kevin Von Erich was born in Belleville, Illinois. Kevin Von Erich’s deceased brothers David, Kerry, Mike, and Chris were all wrestlers. Kevin Von Erich played for North Texas State University in football.

In 1976, Adkisson was introduced as Kevin Von Erich. For the highlight of his career, he wrestled for his father, World Class Championship Wrestling. Kevin’s natural athletic ability and good looks pushed him to the top of the promotion.

Moreover…

Kevin got big success in the business as a single wrestler and team. He participated in many companies’ high-profile feuds.

He was also known for wrestling barefoot, which is unusual in a sport where all other wrestlers wear high-topped boots.

Did you know?

On WCCW broadcasts, World Class announcers called him “The Barefoot Boy.” After that, in an interview, Kevin told the story behind barefooted wrestling. He said someone hid his boots as a joke, and I couldn’t find them before his match, so he came barefoot to wrestle, then it became his very own trademark.

Kevin wore boots in his early matches, including his debut against Paul Perschmann, Playboy Buddy Rose, and another against Superfly Jimmy Snuka.

Kevin was a big fan of Snuka, who wrestled barefoot as well, and he frequently performed a move similar to Snuka’s flying body splash from the top rope, which Snuka dubbed The Superfly.

His breakthrough came in 1978 when he wrestled with his younger brother David in a tag team. During the year, they won the NWA Texas Tag Team Championship twice and the NWA American Tag Team Championship once.

On Christmas Day 1978, he firmly established himself in the promotion’s singles ranks by defeating Bruiser Brody for the NWA American Heavyweight Championship.

Kevin Von Erich made his only WWF appearance on January 21, 1980, against Johnny Rodz, which he won.

Moreover…

As the 1980s progressed, Kevin won many championships in singles and tag team competitions with various partners.

His most visible partners, however, would always be his brothers Kerry and David.

Kevin frequently appeared at other NWA-promoted territories in the early 1980s, including St. Louis, Georgia Championship Wrestling, and briefly Florida Championship Wrestling.

Kevin also wrestled for the World Wrestling Federation in a few matches.

In 2009, Kevin Von Erich was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a Von Erich family member. He resides with his family in Hawaii and runs an investing company.
