Bill Cosby Net Worth & Earnings: Bill Cosby is an American actor, comedian, and producer best known for The Cosby Show with a net worth of $400 million.
He was once the highest-paid television actor – who fell quickly when he became one of the most disgraced sex offenders in the US.
We’ll be looking at:
I’ll even let you in on the notorious comedic king and his monkey business.
Who is Bill Cosby and how low did he go?
Let’s find out.
Who is Bill Cosby?
William Henry Cosby Jr., popularly known as Bill, is an American comedian, producer, and actor born on July 12, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This icon played a major role in reconstructing societal views by painting a more positive image of afro-carribeans on TV.
However, his once prizewinning reputation was tarnished by multiple accusations of sexual assault. The allegations surfaced almost instantly as they’d been deliberately hidden from the public for many MANY decades.
On a more positive note…
At the peak of The Cosby Show, he was recorded to be the highest-paid television actor in THE WORLD.
His base salary went as high as $1 Million per episode.
However, his earnings quadrupled when his syndication, creator and various other income streams came pouring in.
Earning $1 Million back then is like earning $8 Million today, PER EPISODE!
Since he owned 20% of the show, another load of millions in syndication royalties came in over the last several decades. However, because of the comedian clowning around, the money vanished – along with his good reputation – in a snap.

Bill Cosby Controversies and Litigation
Can I be honest with you?
I first learned of Bill Cosby not as a Comedian, but as a Sexual Predator.
He was featured in an American Television Channel, Crime & Investigation with his crimes on every commercial break.
Rape, sexual battery, child sexual abuse, drug-facilitated sexual assault, and sexual misconduct…
… these are some of Bill Cosby’s highly publicized accusations that go as far back as the mid-1960s.
But why now?
Andrea Constand is the antagonist of this plot.
She filed a case against America’s Dad for rape back in 2005. It was dismissed due to a lack of evidence. The district attorney even assured Cosby he could never bring charges against him.
Then, comedian Hannibal Buress’s comedy routine casually featured Cosby’s sexual misdemeanor.
Long story short, the joke went viral and it triggered a lot of personal trauma.
Women from across ten states in the US and one Canadian Province came forward with their testimonies allegedly spanning from 1965 to 2008.
About 60 of them… 60 rape victims with similar accounts of spiked drinks and waking up having been groped.
The demand for answers by the masses forced the police to reopen Andrea’s case.
Of course, Cosby repeatedly denied the allegations and has maintained his innocence.
A month later, Bill Cosby responded to a question about the issue and said he didn’t wanna talk about it.
However, in an interview with Florida Today, Cosby said “People shouldn’t have to go through that and shouldn’t answer innuendos.”
In a May 2015 interview, he said, “I have been in this business 52 years and I’ve never seen anything like this. Reality is a situation and I can’t speak.”
In times of crisis for Bill, several organizations have severed their ties with Cosby. Awards and titles that were given to him have also been revoked.
Reruns of his shows or movies have been stopped.
25 colleges and universities have weaseled out their honorary degrees.
Yes, it wasn’t the first time Bill Cosby had allegations.
But it sure is the first time it landed in criminal court.
It just got real for the guy.
Eight related civil suits were active against Cosby as of November 2015.
His opponent was tough too. The prominent attorney, Gloria Allred. She represented 33 of the victims.
In Cosby’s defense…
…he admitted to engaging in casual sex. It involved the use of Methaqualone, a sedative.
He did so with numerous young women. Cosby also acknowledges his dispensing of illegal prescription drugs for sex.
After long court proceedings and trials, Cosby was found guilty on April 26, 2018, of incidents as far back 2004.
He was sentenced to 3-10 years in state prison, a $25,000 fine, and court costs for both trials for “three counts of aggravated indecent assault against a Toronto woman.”
He spent a quick period in Montgomery County Correctional Facility before Cosby was moved to state prison.
He was confined in a single cell at SCI Phoenix in Pennsylvania on September 25, 2018.
As he was moved to the general population in prison, the verdict was upheld on appeal on December 10, 2019.
Due to the testimonies leaning more on prejudice than evidence, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court allowed Cosby to appeal his conviction.
On June 23, 2020, to be exact.
We are yet to know where this all leads.
Defamation lawsuit settlement
In April of 2019, a federal defamation lawsuit was settled by Bill Cosby’s home insurance company, AIG. Seven women were accused of lying when they accused Cosby of sexual assault.
However, the allegations were too old to bring about criminal charges. It happened decades ago from 1969 to 1992.
Here’s another twist to the story:
Cosby’s spokesman Andrew Wyatt said AIG settled the case without the “knowledge, permission, and/or consent” of Cosby.
Thanks to that, Cosby still strongly denies the allegations brought against him with these defamation suits.
Was that planned too? So he could deny the responsibility? You decide.
How Bill Cosby Spends His Money
This comedic king has already lost and is about to lose millions from being under siege from a ton of sexual accusations and convictions.
That alone was the star’s biggest burden that ultimately led him to financial ruin.
On the other hand, we have some solid details of his spending if we talk about his financial walk before it all began to crumble.
Besides, Bill Cosby Net worth on record stays at $400 Million.
A quarter from Bill Cosby Net Worth is invested in real estate.
His Beverly Hills estate alone is worth as much as $80 Million.
Amongst all else, Bill and his wife Camille have “the most significant art collection in the hands of an African American Family.”
The Cosby’s started their Art Collection as early as the 1960s.
Today, it includes rare pieces by Thomas Hart Benton, Renoir, Picasso, Rembrandt, and Matisse.
The art collection alone could easily reach a value of $150 Million.
He also spent on his small vintage car collection.
He previously owned a private jet adorned with his wife’s name, Camille.

The lot is covered with magnificent pine trees that give the Cosby’s plenty of privacy.
