Born in Washington, D.C., on May 29, 1963, Nathaniel Stroman grew up with his aunt. They grew up poor in the southeast neighborhood.
Earthquake started from nothing. He even experienced nothing to eat.

He had no idea when he was a kid that he was meant for comedy as his career. During one of his statements, Earthquake said that no teacher told him to go into the performing industry.
After graduating from high school, he entered the United States Air Force.

Earthquake comedian joined the Air Force right after he graduated to avoid any threats of drugs, crime, or any negative impacts of the community surrounding him.
That’s why he immediately enrolled in the United States Air Force.
“My mother argued with me, hollered at me, and I wasn’t getting a check, so how hard could basic training be?”, Earthquake explained to Matt Ehlers of the Raleigh News and Observer.

He spent his eleven years in the Air Force, staying on bases located in Florida, California, and the Japanese Islands of Okinawa.

In the Gulf War of 1991.
“I didn’t want to go over there and fight for oil,” he said.
