You’re in the right place…

Steve Harvey is a famous comedian and a TV host of Family Feud, Little Big Shots, Showtime at the Apollo, The Steve Harvey Show, and the reason you’re here today – Steve Harvey Books – he’s an author with four books under his belt.

He started his career in the 1980s as a comedian.

He initially performed stand up comedy shows and later worked as a host for Showtime at the Apollo.

He also has a morning radio show called The Steve Harvey Morning Show.

What’s more…

… he has starred in several films like The Original Kings of Comedy, Johnson Family Vacation, You Got Served, Love Don’t Cost A Thing, Steve Harvey: Don’t Trip, He Ain’t Through with Me Yet, Steve Harvey: Still Trippin’, Racing Stripes, and The Fighting Temptations.

But, let’s leave all that aside for a moment…

…because today – we’re interested in his work as a writer

He’s produced four books in total.

So make yourself a coffee – and let’s take a look at the books written by Mr. Harvey, the man himself.

Let’s get started…

1. Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man

Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Mandepicts Harvey’s idea of what men honestly think about adoration, connection, closeness, and duty.

In his book, Harvey teaches women how to be a “manager” instead of a “sports fish.”.

He declares that men are “basic” and that ladies should comprehend that they can never be first in a man’s existence unless they understand (and tolerate) the fact that men are driven by two things:

  • the fact that their identity is their primary concern
  • the amount they make…

He says it’s downright imbecilic to let a man lock you into an early monogamous relationship, where you share a bed, bills, and even children.

The best way to change your relationship to “serious” (aka marriage) is to demand a calendar date for the wedding.

Maybe that’s just what you want?

In addition to that…

…there’s an actual movie tie-in for this book.

On April 20, 2012, Screen Gems, Sony Pictures’ affiliate, released a feature film based on the book Think Like a Man, where Steve Harvey acted as executive producer. He made a cameo appearance in the movie, to boot.

The book was published in 2009 by HaperLuxe.

Steve Harvey, the host of the Steve Harvey Morning Show, has lost count of the number of eligible ladies he’s met during his career, whether through the “Strawberry Letters” section of his program or while traveling for his satire shows.

Fact:

The ladies he met in these shows are the ladies who maintain a work-life, alongside taking care of children and serving the church – all at once.

However, they simply can’t seem to make sense of what’s most important to men concerning connections.

Why is this?

It seems they’re all seeking advice from other women when none of them know how to find and keep a man.

He tells us it’s easier than we think.

In this book, he reveals a man’s mentality towards women and sheds new light on the ideas surrounding it.

Things to consider are:

His relationships with God and his mother. You should get to know his thoughts on having children and building a family. Then you’ll see whether he wants a long-lasting relationship.

His short term actions. What are his efforts towards his goal? Is he taking steps according to his plans?

His long term plans. Does his plan suit who he is? What does he do? How much money does he make? Knowing his short term actions and long term plans will help you see if he’s ready for a long term relationship with you.

His feelings about you. How does he feel when he is with you? How about when you’re not together? Does he love you? Is he feeling something more profound than a simple attraction towards you?

His thoughts about you. What does he think about your personality? Does he remember details about you? Is he considering a long term relationship with you?
A woman wants equal emotion and intensity in how they treat and love their man. Women want men to notice how they put effort into their commitment, and they want men to do the same.
We’ve all been there, ladies.
But…
… according to the author, it’s unrealistic for women to expect to receive the love they want because individuals have different ways of showing and feeling love.
This doesn’t mean that a man isn’t capable of showing his true feelings – but instead, it opens up the idea of a man and a woman having the same feelings but different ways of showing their emotions.
This is the main reason he wrote his first book.
He wants women to understand how men’s minds work, and he aims to teach them what they should and shouldn’t expect from men.

Not only is the book for women, but also men.

The author tells men how women love.

He shows what a woman can do for the man she truly loves…

… and that can ultimately be the most compassionate thing a man can ever experience in his life.

2. Straight Talk, No Chaser

Straight Talk No Chaser, the next of Steve Harvey’s books, is an excellent source of information if you’re seeking a man and looking to establish a stable relationship.

This particular Harvey book has some fascinating and rational views to reflect on.

It was released on December 7, 2010, and was published by HarperCollins.

What the author uncovers in this book is no huge surprise, though.

Most women know a good deal about men already, even more than we’d like sometimes!

This book does cover a great deal…

Harvey discusses dating and how men see different kinds of women.

It also discusses what men are searching for at various points in their lives.

He also demonstrates how to maintain a great relationship even after marriage – to achieve that so-called “happily ever after.”

Here, Harvey shows his readers the core theme of how men determine themselves in line with their title, primary occupation, and how much they make.

This applies to men both before and after marriage.

Here’s another thought to ponder…

A man does three things when he’s in love with a woman: he cares about her, protects her, and he expresses his love.

Bear in mind that unless the woman he loves has specific rules, he will do these three things in whichever way he feels is correct, which may not necessarily align with what the woman believes is the best way.

And there are three things men want from a relationship: commitment, encouragement, and sex.

He notes that men understand the difference between sex and a relationship. He advises women not to jump into bed with a guy if they want a relationship.

A man who’s genuinely interested in you is not going to abandon you just because you’re challenging in that way.

But that’s not all.

His views on nagging were compelling reading…

The author teaches women how to communicate with their men so that they get the work they want complete and maintain harmony at home.

He highlights how women act – in his view, wrongly – when they ask their man to do chores, and the man doesn’t respond to the request right away.

To make matters worse, he says…

… women tend to be passive-aggressive, snub, or worse still, orally aggressive when their men fails to do the tasks she asks.

He claims ‘nagging’ is not the way to get things done.

But if your man doesn’t respond straight away, you should give him the chance to do it on his terms – because his priorities and yours won’t necessarily be the same – and that’s something most women need to understand.

3. Act Like A Success, Think Like A Success

In this New York Times bestseller, the author explores how you can fulfill your goals with the gifts you already possess.

He defines this gift as “the single thing that you do the best with the least amount of effort.”

Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success is a great book rich with highlights from Steve’s life – all the way back to living in his car – to being the $180 million net worth man he is today.

This is a useful guide if you’re just starting your career or are now well placed in the c-suite.

Let’s start by looking at the author’s life history before his incredible success.

In his early days, Steve lived in his car to save money to chase his dreams of becoming a comedian.

A poverty-stricken man, he bathed in a public bathroom and ate fast-food, and at times, he felt like giving up.

However, there came a time when he finally called his mom to ask if he could stay with her, and an unexpected twist of fate happened.

What was that?

The Apollo Theatre asked him to perform.

Yes, you read that right.

It was a great opportunity.

But Steve didn’t have the cash he needed for gas to travel from Tennessee to New York.

He was too shy to ask for money from his mom.

But… Heaven sent him a miracle the very next day.

He got a message from a club in Florida, asking him to perform one last time.

The audience had loved him so much they requested him to perform a second time around.

As a result, he could fly to New York thanks to the money he earned from this one performance.

Broderick Stephen had no home to settle in, so he wandered the city all day long with a bag that held all his belongings…

…yet even all of this couldn’t drag him down.

In this book, the author describes this time in his life as a “Pushback, Pushforward” moment.

He also explains how to discover and embrace your gift.

After recognizing your gift, the next thing to do is to connect it to a “vehicle,” so it will move you to the next step on your way to success.

He describes a fantastic metaphor of a journey and a long bus.

Harvey relates the life journey to a long bus trip where you need to switch from one bus to other several times.

However…

… the goal is not to jump forward.

Start where you are now, and then look for the transition.

He maintains that people who aspire to a better way of life should be ready for failures.

This implies that you have to continually work to grow your gift – the gift that God has given you that will allow you to be ready when opportunity knocks.

He also discusses discipline – having 5-hours sleep at the most.

He asserts that people who sleep beyond that aren’t usually concerned with the opportunities life offers.

The bottom line is this:

The book is your guide to discover what your gift truly is, to identify it, to refine it, to attach it to a vehicle, and to finally push it to success.

There are stories from his own life, practical tips, and wisdom on every page.

Steve Harvey is undoubtedly an experienced storyteller, and this one comes in his usual humorous tone.

Read this book, and your success will come easy.

This one is highly recommended – sensible, fun, and super practical.
