Lawrence Tureaud’s birthday is on May 21, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois. He is the youngest among twelve children. In an episode of “Silver Spoons”, Mr. T explained his name as “First name: Mister; middle name: period; last name T.” 

He even said in one of his speeches, “People ask me what the “T” stands for in my name. If you’re a man, the “T” stands for tough. If you’re a woman or child, it stands for tenderness!”

In the mid-70s, he took a job as a bouncer at a club in Chicago and became a bodyguard of solid and well-known personalities. He was then known as a man who wore gold chains with a mohawk haircut and answered to the name “Mr. T.”

His big break came when Sylvester Stallone spotted him at the NBC’s “America’s Toughest Bouncer” competition, a segment of NBC’s “Games People Play,” and cast him as one of the cast in Rocky III.

World Class Championship Wrestling

In July 1989, Mr. T made an appearance on the world-class Championship Wrestling. His professional wrestling career as a professional wrestler. It is the year 1985 when Mr. T entered the world of professional wrestling.

He became the tag team partner of Hulk Hogan for the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) WrestleMania, where he won and later became a “WWF boxer.” 

In 1994, he retired from wrestling and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014. And in April 2004, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame’s celebrity wing.
