What happened to Takeoff

Takeoff was shot and killed at around 2:40 a.m. on 1 November 2022, at a private party held at a bowling alley in downtown Houston. He was 28.

A suspect was charged and, as of February 2026, a trial date had been set.

Migos has not recorded as a trio since. Quavo and Offset have both released solo work, and the group’s status has never been formally resolved.

The family structure nobody outside Atlanta knew

Here is the part most profiles skip: Migos was a family before it was a group.

Quavo is Takeoff’s uncle. Offset is Quavo’s cousin. The three grew up in the same household in Gwinnett County, north east of Atlanta, and formed the group in 2008 while still at school in Lawrenceville.

That matters more than the height numbers do. Groups assembled by labels shed members constantly. Migos never changed its line-up in fourteen years, and the reason is that leaving would have meant leaving a family, not a band.

My read

The height question gets asked because Migos looked bigger than they were. Heavy outerwear, chains, a stage presence built on all three moving as one block.

Strip that away and you have three men of ordinary height, none of whom would stand out in a queue.

The interesting number here was never the inches. It was fourteen years with the same three people, which almost no group in modern rap has managed.
