Megyn Marie Kelly, known popularly as Megyn Kelly, is an American news anchor, talk show host, journalist, author, attorney, and political commentator. A woman of her caliber, Kelly is without a doubt one of the highest-paid anchors of her generation.
Kelly had worked in Fox News for thirteen years, starting from 2004 to 2017 before she left, and joined NBC News from 2017 to 2018.
She launched an independent media company “Devil May Care Media” last 2020 and currently produces a podcast, “The Megyn Kelly Show.” Kelly’s been actively posting to her Instagram account and Youtube channel.
But before we dive deeper, let’s first check this out…
Kelly has a promising career in the legal world before she enters a career in television.
After obtaining her Juris Doctor in Albany Law School in 1995, she started her career as a lawyer a year later. She became an associate in Bickel & Brewer LLP in Chicago.
She co-wrote the “The Conflicting Roles of Lawyer as Director” article for the American Bar Association’s journal before transferring to Jones Day, where she worked for nine years.
Kelly moved to Washington, D.C. in 2003 and was hired as a general assignment reporter by WJLA-TV, an affiliate of ABC, where she covered local and national events, including hearings for the U.S Supreme Court, the retirement of a Justice, and the death of a Chief Justice.
It’s where it all started…
Her coverage of the 2004 Presidential election is what opens the door for Kelly into the media industry.
Though Kelly has no media background, she was offered a position by Fox News in 2004, where she contributed in legal segments for the “Special Report with Brit Hume.” And being a great addition to the news team by her legal expertise, she then hosted her segment “Kelly’s Court” during “Weekend Live” not long before.
It gets better…
Kelly became a regular in “The O’Reilly Factor,” doing a regular weekly segment focusing mostly on political subjects and occasionally filled in for Greta Van Susteren on “On the Record.”
Due to her hard work and immense dedication, Kelly began her two-hour afternoon show “America Live,” which replaced “The Live” in 2010. The viewership of the said show increased by 20 percent.
But wait, there’s more…
Kelly’s coverage of the results of the 2012 Presidential election resulted in her media attention when the Fox News decision desk projected that Obama would win a second term.
In 2013, Kelly left “America Live” and began hosting her new nightly program “The Kelly File.”
Kelly’s interview with Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar of “19 Kids and Counting” regarding the alleged molestation of their son Josh Duggar to five girls, including Jill and Jessa Duggar, received a rating of 3.09 million viewers, as per the Nielsen national estimates in 2015.
She became a debate moderator in the 2015 Republican Party presidential debate. Megyn released her autobiography “Settle for More” with HarperCollins publishing it and has a $10 million purchased manuscript in 2016.
We’re almost there—but we’re not quite done yet…
Kelly left for a greener pasture as she joined the NBC news. Her contract with Fox came to an end in 2017 and landed in her so-called triple role in NBC News, hosting a daytime talk show, a Sunday-night special, and would be available as a correspondent for any big events in politics.
She hosted her show “Megyn Kelly Today.” She worked with NBC News from 2017 to 2018.
Truth be told…
Megyn is not only famous for her work as a correspondent, talk show host, journalist, and political commentator but also on the big controversies she’s been involved with.
She had her first major controversy in “The Kelly File,” as she addressed any children watching her show that Santa and Jesus are white-man.
But in her Business Insider interview in 2017, she seemed to take back her comments saying, “I regret a lot of what I’ve said” and “there’s a lot I’d like to go back and say differently.”
In 2015, she had a feud with then-presidential candidate Donald Trump which started in the Republican Party presidential debate.
We’re not through yet…
Kelly’s ‘Blackface Halloween Costume’ controversy is what caused the cancellation of her show “Megyn Kelly Today.”
Three days after her controversial remarks, NBC canceled all her shows. Her $69 million three-year contract was terminated after a year, and NBC paid the remaining $30 million left on the contract.
Megyn currently produces a podcast, “The Megyn Kelly Show,” through her independent media company “Devil May Care Media,” which she launched in 2020.
Amidst all the controversies she’s been involved with, we can’t deny the fact that Megyn Kelly is indeed a truly amazing woman for nailing both the legal world and the media industry.
And due to her hard work…
That’s all there is to it.
Amazing, isn’t it?

On a segment in NBC’s “Megyn Kelly Today,” Kelly’s controversial remarks about defending blackface as a costume for Halloween caused a backlash in 2017.
She used Luanne de Lesseps as an example when Lesseps appeared to darken her skin as a Dianna Ross costume.
Due to loud outcry from the viewers and colleagues, Kelly issued an apology to her co-workers and viewers saying, “One of the wonderful things about my job is that I get the chance to express and hear a lot of opinions. Today is one of those days where listening carefully to others’ points of view, including from friends and colleagues, is leading me to rethink my views.”
Even with her apology, NBC announced that the show would be canceled and all the others show where Kelly is involved.
The Roger Ailes Sexual Harassment Controversy
In 2016, Kelly was involved in the controversial sexual harassment of then-Fox News CEO Roger Ailes. She confirmed that she was subject to Ailes harassment and her fellow correspondents, which resulted in the resignation of Ailes.
This controversial alleged sexual harassment on Fox News was portrayed in the movie “Bombshell” in 2019. Charlize Theron plays Kelly, Margot Robbie as Kayla Pospisil (a composite character), Gretchen Carlson played by Nicole Kidman, Roger Ailes played by John Lithgow, and Rudi Bakhtiar played by Nazanin Boniadi.

Then Trump fired back on Twitter, saying, “Wow, @megynkelly really bombed tonight. People are going wild on Twitter! Funny to watch.“ He continued to criticize the Fox News host, telling CNN, “There was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.”
The feud goes on and on.
In May of 2016, their feud appears to be patched up when Kelly and Trump finally talked, when the latter appeared on the Fox Network in a new, one-hour long primetime special called “Megyn Kelly Presents.”
Santa and Jesus are white man controversy.
In 2013, Kelly had an infamous segment in “The Kelly File” where she said that Santa and Jesus are white. “For all you kids watching at home, Santa just is white.” and added that, “Jesus was a white man, too. He’s a historical figure that’s a verifiable fact, as is Santa, I just want kids to know that.”
But in her 2017 Business Insider review, Kelly seemed to take back her comments and saying.
“I regret a lot of what I’ve said, I mean you’re going to be on the air several hours a week on live television, you’re going to say stupid s***. That’s just the reality, you know, so, yeah, there’s a lot I’d like to go back and say differently.”
