Marshmello Net Worth: Why Nobody Can Actually Tell You

Search for this and you will be told $50 million, on page after page, with total confidence.

Not one of those pages says which year the figure describes, who produced it, or what it counts. It is a single unsourced number reprinted several hundred times, and the repetition gets mistaken for corroboration.

So here is the useful version. Nobody credible has published a net worth for Marshmello. What has been published, by the outlet that dug hardest into his finances, is three years of measured earnings, and those are worth more than the guess.

What Forbes measured, and what it deliberately did not

Forbes covered Marshmello more closely than any other publication, including unmasking him in November 2017 by working back through BMI and ASCAP credits and the Delaware registration for Marshmello Creative LLC.

Forbes listRankEarningsPeriod measured
Highest-Paid DJs 2017No 8$21mJune 2016 to June 2017
Highest-Paid DJs 2018No 5$23mJune 2017 to June 2018
Highest-Paid DJs 2019No 2$40mJune 2018 to June 2019

$84 million across three measured years. That is a real, sourced, dated number, and it is the closest thing to a financial fact in this subject.

It is also not net worth, and the distinction is where most coverage falls over. Forbes states its method plainly: the figures are pre-tax, and they are calculated before deducting what goes to lawyers, agents and managers. An electronic act touring at that volume pays a booking agent, a manager, a tour crew and a tax bill out of the gross. What reaches him is a fraction of what Forbes prints, and Forbes has never claimed otherwise.

A separate Forbes cover story in November 2018 put him at β€œover $44 million” across the previous two years. Several outlets have since rendered that as $45 million per year. It was not. It was a two-year total.

No edition of that list after 2019 could be located, so his measured earnings stop there.

The $60 million deal that did not finish

In March 2019 the Palms announced a two-year exclusive residency for him at KAOS, its new dayclub and nightclub. A source close to the deal put it at around $60 million, with roughly $600,000 per performance weekend and a nightly haul reported as a little short of a million dollars.

It was described at the time as the most expensive residency deal in Las Vegas history.

By late September 2019 he had been released from the contract, and KAOS announced it was closing, roughly six months after opening.

This is the part worth being careful about, and almost nobody is. $60 million was a contract face value, not cash received. The deal ended early and no party has ever disclosed what was actually paid. Every page adding $60 million to his earnings column is inventing income.

It is also the most interesting thing in his financial record. A headline number that large, extinguished inside seven months, says more about how the top of the DJ market worked in 2019 than any ranking does.

Fortnite, and the payment nobody will confirm

On 2 February 2019 he played an eight-song set inside Fortnite. Epic Games confirmed to Variety that 10.7 million players attended concurrently, beating the platform’s previous record of 8.3 million.

It is one of the genuinely significant events in modern music distribution, and its economics are a closed book. What Epic paid him, and whether he takes a cut of the Marshmello skins and emotes still sold in the game, has never been made public. The documented commercial effect is indirect: a measurable lift in his streaming and sales in the days afterwards.

What he owns

In June 2018 Kobalt signed him to a worldwide publishing administration and sync deal covering both future work and his back catalogue. Kobalt administers rather than acquires, which normally means the writer keeps the copyrights, though the announcement does not say so outright.

A $10 million figure attached itself to that deal and spread. Music Business Worldwide, reporting the signing, stated plainly that the figure was inaccurate. No corrected number was ever given.

He releases his own albums through Joytime Collective, his own imprint, starting with Joytime in January 2016. The collaborations that produced most of his chart success sit with major labels, and those terms are not public. Whether he owns his masters is genuinely unknown outside the Joytime records.

The catalogue underneath all of it

Whatever the touring numbers did, the recorded music is still working.

Happier, with Bastille, reached No 2 on the Hot 100 and was certified diamond by the RIAA in August 2024, representing ten million units. It spent 69 weeks at No 1 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, a record for that chart.

Behind it: Silence with Khalid at six times platinum, Alone and One Thing Right with Kane Brown at five times platinum each, Wolves with Selena Gomez and FRIENDS with Anne-Marie at four times platinum.

His catalogue has drawn 24.0 billion Spotify streams, checked on 7 September 2026, with Happier alone at 2.69 billion.

Two copyright cases are on the record and both resolved. Artem Stoliarov, the producer Arty, sued over Happier in May 2019; the court granted summary judgment for Marshmello in 2021 on the basis that Stoliarov had disclaimed ownership in the remix composition. In 2023 Marshmello Creative was the plaintiff in a separate infringement action, terminated in June 2024.

What I can and cannot tell you about his money

I can tell you he was measured at $84 million of gross earnings across three years, that the largest single deal of his career was reported at $60 million and collapsed before it ran, and that he owns a diamond single and an imprint.

I cannot tell you what he is worth, and neither can anyone else publishing a figure. There is a difference between an estimate with a stated method, which is worth reading, and a number with no origin, which is worth nothing.

My read is that the honest range is wide and nobody outside his accountants can narrow it. He earned enormously in a three-year window, in a business with unusually high costs against gross, and then the public reporting stopped. A house bought for $10.8 million in 2020 and sold for $15 million in 2024 is the only asset transaction on the record, and one property does not make a valuation.

He is still working, and no longer only as Marshmello. In January 2025 he launched a pop-punk band, Underbrook, fronting it under his own name, Christopher Comstock. That is the first time he has put the real name on a commercial release, nine years after the helmet went on.

πŸ† Top Takeaways to Success

  1. 1

No reputable outlet has ever published a net worth for Marshmello. Forbes measured his annual earnings and stopped short of a valuation.

  2. 2

The $50 million figure repeated across the web carries no year and no derivation. It is one unsourced claim reprinted, not a consensus.

  3. 3

Forbes measured $21m, $23m and $40m in three separate years. Those are gross and pre-tax, before agents, managers and lawyers are paid.

  4. 4

The $60 million Las Vegas residency is a contract face value, not money received. The venue closed within about six months of opening.
