Gordon Ramsay Early Career

At age 19, Gordon enrolled in the Hotel Management program at North Oxfordshire Technical College and graduated in 1987.

After college, he began working at the Wroxton House Hotel in 1987 as a commis chef, and he then went on to run the kitchen and a 60-seat dining room at the Wickham Arms after his stint in Wroxton House Hotel.

Early London days…

Ramsay left for London, where he worked in a couple of restaurants before landing a job for Marco Pierre White at his two Michelin stars restaurant called Harvey’s.

This is where it gets interesting.

He reached his boiling point, becoming fed up with Marco Pierre White for his fiery temper, bullying, violence, and rages.

Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

Jean Claude Breton and Albert Roux…

Gordon then met Jean Claude Breton (his maitre d-hotel at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay). When working for Albert Roux and Le Gavroche in Mayfair, Gordon focused on his French cuisine.

Roux invited Ramsay to work with him as his number two in a ski resort in the French Alps, the Hotel Diva.

Gordon Ramsay Paris

Ramsey left for Paris in 1989 after working in the ski resort.

In Paris, Ramsay worked with Guy Savoy and Joel Robuchon, who are both Michelin-starred chefs.

Ramsay stayed in Paris for three years and, with the help of both Guy Savoy and Joel Robuchon, further enhance his cooking knowledge.

Return to London

After a sabbatical year, Ramsay moved back to London in 1993. He was immediately offered the head chef position at Pierre Koffman’s La Tante Claire in Chelsea, a three Michelin stars restaurant.

Shortly after, the word came out that he was back…

… he was made an offer that he could not refuse, not by Vito Corleone but from his former boss Pierre White.

White offered Ramsay the head chef position at restaurant Aubergine and included a 10% ownership share. Gordon’s tenure won Aubergine its second Michelin star in 1997.

Ramsay left in 1998 due to a business conflict.

Gordon Ramsay Restaurant

In 1998, after Ramsay moved from restaurant Aubergine, he opened the Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, his own restaurant in Chelsea, London.

The restaurant received its third Michelin star in 2001, making Ramsay the first Scot to accomplish this feat.

Gordon Ramsay Scandals & Controversies

Gordon Ramsay Scandals & Controversies

In 2009,  Mario Batali from the food network said, “Gordon bugs me,” and his food was dull, outdated, that the man had no understanding of the importance of ingredients.

Gordon then insulted Bitali’s fashion sense by calling his favored orange shorts “Fanta Pants.”

So…

The food network Mario Batali banned Gordon Ramsay from his restaurants after he insulted his fashion sense.

Uh-oh, the man touched a sore nerve there.

In 2009, Gordon Ramsay admitted to serving frozen food in his high-end restaurants.

GR Logistics admitted that they prepare components of dishes devised and produced to the highest Gordon Ramsay standards. They are sealed and shipped daily in refrigerated vans, and all menu dishes are then cooked in the individual kitchens.

Also, in 2009, Ramsay made a nasty comment about the physical appearance of an Australian television personality Jamie Oliver, that earned a rebuke from Italian cuisine expert Oliver.

The feud lasted for years.

But…

The feud ended by the time Jamie Oliver’s restaurant empire collapsed.

The two had apparently buried the hatchet, and Ramsay reached out after hearing the news about Jamie Oliver and are now “absolutely” friends.

In 2008, Sarah Symonds, self-described “professional mistress,” accused Gordon Ramsay of infidelity.

And…

She claimed that she had a seven-year affair with the married chef.

Symonds also claimed to be Ramsay’s soulmate and confidante and described him as someone who lives on the edge and who loves the risk and needs that adrenaline rush.

Then…

Ramsay restated his innocence and the reason why he won’t  cheat on his wife; his reply was: “If I ever f**ked up, she’d have my balls in a vise and turn them into a f**king crêpe suzette thinner than the frilliest knickers Paris Hilton’s ever worn.”

Aww, such sweet words.
