The Young 50 Cent
50 Cent grew up in the care of his single mother, Sabrina Jackson, in South Jamaica. He didn’t have the best childhood since his mother died in a fire when he was just eight years old. After such an unfortunate event, he was left with his grandparents who raised him – with all they had.
When he was 11, 50 Cent started boxing in the hopes of becoming a professional boxer.
But one short year later, he was selling drugs in school. He even bought a gun for protection and took it with him to school when he was only 15.
It was a hard knock life.
His first arrest happened that same year, thanks to his high school’s security detecting the gun and drugs.
After that incident, he dropped out of school and focused on his drug business.
50 Cent: Family & Relationships
The Love of 50 Cent’s Life
Nope, it’s not someone he dated or is currently dating.
Beulah Jackson, his grandmother, brought up 50 Cent in their simple home in South Jamaica Queens. Cent grew up with his mother’s eight siblings.
Her death in 2014 made headlines as 50 Cent recalled everything he and his grandmother encountered while he was growing up.
From his drug pin stories to how he achieved his success today – it was all laid bare when she died.
50 Cent & His Grandfather
His grandfather, Curtis Jackson II, now lives with the rapper. He loves to take care of him and enjoys spending his days-off with him.
50 Cent & His Romantic Relationships
50 Cent has dated many women including the socialite Paris Hilton, reality show star Kim Kardashian, English model Naomi Campbell, and fitness model-businesswoman Cuban Link.
He has two kids – one from Shaniqua Tompkins (mother of Marquise Jackson, 50 Cent’s oldest son and another with Daphne Joy (mother of Sire Jackson), whom he dated before his relationships with Campbell and Link.
Cuban Link (also known as Jamira Haines) is a fitness trainer and a pre-law student from New Jersey. They had their first date in a restaurant because Link wasn’t sure if she was meeting the “real” 50 Cent.
The two have been dating since 2019.
50 Cent Education
50 Cent attended Andrew Jackson High School for a while.
He then earned his General Education Development (GED) diploma after he spent six months in a boot camp.
50 Cent Career
In 1996, he first tried rapping and exploring his music. This led to his cameo on React, a song of Onyx in 1998. After that, he created an unreleased album under Jam Master Jay Records.
He signed a contract under Columbia Records in 1999 after he left Jam Master Jay Records.
His first official album entitled Power of the Dollar was released in 2000. Afterward, he created Hollow Point Entertainment with Bang ‘Em Smurf.
Get Rich or Die Trying (his album in 2002) became 50 Cent’s ticket to success.
It was thanks to the fact that Eminem and Dr. Dre produced this album. In da Club, the album’s lead single topped the Billboard charts and was named the most listened to song for a week in radio history.
Under Interscope Records, his second studio album was The Massacre – this sold more than a million copies in its first week. Three songs from the album also paved the way to the top five of Billboard.
Curtis was the third album of 50 Cent, and this was based on his life story before he became famous. It ranked second to Kanye West’s Graduation on the Billboard 200, starting the very public sales battle.
In 2009, Before I Self Destruct was released and achieved high sales.
In 2014, Mane made public his album The Oddfather exactly on the same day as his trial for illegal possession of firearms.
50 Cent only released some mixtapes in 2015 as he focused on his personal life.
Later on, he announced to the public that he was going through bankruptcy proceedings.
His last album under Interscope Records was released in 2017, and it was entitled Best of.
