Let us tell you his story.

The Indian tech tycoon earned a pre-university diploma from the American College in Madurai and a bachelor’s degree from the PSG College of Technology in Coimbatore, majoring in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Before establishing himself as an IT tycoon…

The Indian billionaire industrialist Shiv Nadar started working with the Walchand group’s Cooper Engineering Ltd. in Pune in 1967.

Nadar, one of India’s leading philanthropists, eventually dropped out to start his own business with the help of a few friends and colleagues.

Shiv Nadar and his partners, Arjun Malhotra, Ajai Chowdhry, Yogesh Vaidya, Subhash Arora, DS Puri, and S. Raman Mahendra Pratap, began their first venture, the Microcomp. The company’s main goal was to offer teledigital calculators in India.

Not long after that…

Nadar founded HCL Technologies in 1976. After four years, HCL ventured and expanded into the worldwide market by launching Far East Computers in Singapore, which sells computer hardware.

Nadar decided to enter the American computer hardware market in 1989, but the initial efforts were ineffective due to American regulations.

HCL HP Limited was formed in 1991 when the business collaborated with Hewlett Packard. This collaboration allowed them to increase their sales in the American market.

Following that…

Nadar opted to break his company into five groups in 1998, with HCL Technologies as the global IT service provider, HCL Infosystems as the Indian IT hardware company leader, HCL Perot as the IT applications provider, HCL comnet as the network service provider, and NIIT as the education provider.

Because of that…

The Indian government honored Nadar with the Padma Bhushan, the country’s third-highest civilian honor, in 2008 for his contributions to the IT industry.

Here’s a kicker!

The “HCL 8C,” which cost Rs. 300,000 (about $4,000) when Shiv Nadar’s business HCL first released it, was the company’s first computer.

Following years of achievement…

And not only that…

HCL currently employs over 150,000 people in 49 countries around the world. At the same time, Nadar remained HCL’s largest shareholder, although having no management influence.

With his family, Shiv Nadar owns 60% of HCL Technologies, an Indian software company.

Nadar is not just a successful IT entrepreneur but also a generous philanthropist.

Not only that…
