Born in Brooklyn, New York… he was raised in the neighborhood of Bushwick.
Eddie’s mother, Lillian, was a telephone operator, and father, Charles Edward, was an amateur comedian and transit cop – I see where he gets his humor from!
At a young age, his parents divorced and his father found a new woman… however, sadly Charles Edward Murphy was murdered by his girlfriend when Eddie was just 8 years old.
Eddie grew up with his older brother Charlie… and spent a year in foster care when his mother was temporarily ill.
