Cooper Hefner is an American author, teacher, activist, reservist in the United States AirForce, and successful businessman. The famous Playboy Enterprises Inc. serves as the training ground for this young businessman.

 It is without a doubt for Cooper to be a successful businessman because it runs in the blood. His father, Hugh Hefner, is the founder of Playboy Enterprises Inc.

The said company, founded by Hugh Hefner and his associates in 1953, played an important role in the sexual revolution and remained one of the world’s best-known brands.

Cooper started working in this entertainment magazine notable for its centerfolds of nude and semi-nude models called Playmates when he was in college.

But…

He left the company in 2016 due to disagreements with then-CEO Scott Flanders regarding the direction the company was taking. Cooper was a board observer at that time.

So, Hefner began his career in editing, writing, and publishing ads that focused on politics, culture, and philosophy. He started the Hefner Operations and Productions, also known as HOP, in 2016. It is a startup company centering on social events and content for millennials.

In July 2016, Hefner returned to Playboy Enterprises Inc. and started working as the chief creative officer when his father stepped down from the post.

Cooper decided to feature Playboy’s first transgender playmate and announced in February 2017 that nude images would return to the magazine after its removal in 2015.

He said in his Twitter account, “ I’ll be the first to admit that the way in which magazines portrayed nudity was dated, but removing it entirely was a mistake.”

“Nudity was never the problem because nudity isn’t a problem. Today we’re taking our identity back and reclaiming who we are.”

“When you have a company, and the founder is responsible for kick-starting the sexual revolution, and then you pluck out that aspect of the company’s DNA by removing the nudity, it makes a lot of people, including me, sit and say, ‘What is the hell is the company doing?” he continued.

Playboy’s earnings increased by more than thirty-nine percent in 2017, after Hefner’s return which resulted in recognition from “The Folio: 100 lists for 2017” for his contributions to the magazine media industry and also in “Forbes 30 Under 30 list for 2018.”

Cooper took over as the chief of global partnerships for Playboy Enterprises, wherein he focused on revenue and business development over media and content management in January 2019.

However, in April 2019, Playboy Magazine CEO Ben Kohn confirmed that Hefner would vacate his senior role to launch his media brand the Hefner Media Corporation and a digital content platform called Hefpost, later called  StagDaily.

Hefner took a hiatus from his media company and enlisted in the United States Air Force in December 2019.  He’s also teaching at Chapman University and also serves on the board of governors.

In 2016, Cooper considered running for Congress in California’s 37th congressional district.

He announced last July 2020 his campaign as a Democrat for the California Senate in 2022 in the state’s 30th District.
