Bill O’Reilly Net Worth, Biography & Lifestyle: The newsroom always had Bill O’Reilly’s name on it for decades. The American journalist has worked for CBS News, ABC News, Inside Edition, and Fox News and now has a net worth of $100 million!

But now that it’s all gone…

It’s no secret that the biggest celebrities have the biggest issues too.

But O’Reilly’s broken the hearts of many supporters and fans.

We’ll tear that apart later, along with the details of:

  • the highs and lows of his media career that earned him his current net worth;
  • his controversial segments like Talking Points Memo;
  • his bestseller books and stock market investments that contributed to his net worth;
  • two of his beautiful homes and the charity he set up for war veterans; and
  • so much more!

Prepare for a rollercoaster ride!

I’m especially excited to talk about his eulogy to his friend Joe Spencer that got him a milestone job.

So stay tuned.

We’re going in live…

Who Is Bill O’Reilly?

William James O’Reilly Jr. is a journalist, political commentator, and news reporter famous for hosting The O’Reilly Factor from 1996 to 2017 on Fox News Channel. For 16 years, The O’Reilly Factor was the highest-rated cable news show.

He was a very promising journalist even before that.

O’Reilly began working for local newsrooms in Portland, Boston, and Denver before joining CBS News in 1982. He covered wars in El Salvador from Argentina.

Who Is Bill O'Reilly

At the funeral of his friend and colleague Joe Spencer who died in a helicopter crash, Bill delivered a eulogy that caught the attention of then ABC News president Roone Arledge who eventually hired him as a general assignment reporter.

When he worked as an ABC News correspondent starting in 1986, he earned praise for being the first TV host to be on the scene of the 1992 LA Riots and strikes. There he hosted daytime news briefs about what was to be reported later in World News Tonight.

He had a thing for adventures.

He then became the head broadcaster for a tabloid television program, King World, in Inside Edition where he covered the dismantling of the Berlin Wall and the first interview with murderer Joel Steinberg.

He was promoted to be the program’s anchor only three weeks after its launch when the contract with original anchor David Frost had ended.

He didn’t settle for that, though.

He went on a journalism hiatus to go to John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 1995.

Then in 1996, after gaining his Master’s in Public Administration, Fox News took him in.

The channel gave him his own show, The O’Reilly Report which was renamed to The O’Reilly Factor. In this program, he gained a lot of criticism for his “biased” comments during his Talking Points Memo segment.

Because of the show’s success, the channel launched a The O’Reilly Factor follow-up, The O’Reilly Update.

It was a good run until 2017…

Instead of delivering the news, O’Reilly was in the news for a huge scandal that rocked the nation. Don’t fret! We’ll get into detail about that later.

Fox News Channel

The New York Times reported that O’Reilly was fired by Fox News Channel and was replaced by Tucker Carlson.

He then launched his TV program, No Spin News, which airs on YouTube, The First, and Pluto TV.

In 2020, the former television host went for a New York City-based radio station with his new show, Common Sense with Bill O’Reilly.

Nothing’s gonna stop him, is there?

And by the way…

He’s an author too! He has written and published books – a lot of them – about political disputes and events that rocked the nation in its time.

He named his publications the Killing Series. Some of his bestsellers are Killing Jesus and Killing Lincoln. Other bestsellers that are not from the series are Legends and Lies and The Day the World Went Nuclear.

He doesn’t publicize the specifics…

But it can be assumed that he has investments in companies within the said industries.

Bill O’Reilly Scandals & Controversies

Since there’s no news flash anyway…

Bill O’Reilly has sexual harassment claims written all over his report! Shocking? Me neither. But it rocked the newsroom when it first came out!

First, his shows dropped on advertising revenue.

Then the ousting happened.

The tea was spilled in 2017 but the sexual harassment claims rooted from 2004. Multiple women, mostly producers, and reporters who worked for O’Reilly and his shows, received tens of millions of settlement for inappropriate behavior.

It wasn’t just him.

In 2016, Fox News CEO Roger Ailes was also named an offender by Gretchen Carlson, who was paid a settlement of $20 million.

One of the plaintiffs of the O’Reilly allegations, a Fox News employee, described the whole company as “Playboy Mansion-like” and misogynistic.

We can’t imagine how much money the former news anchor paid to zip lips up…

But while the media rages on…

O’Reilly goes to a fellow ousted Fox News colleague, Glenn Beck, for comfort – for a new job, really, but comfort sounded better at this point.

When he got terminated by the company, he was paid a $32 million severance fee.

How Bill O’Reilly Spends His Money

With Bill O’Reilly net worth like that, it’s no wonder that he spends a lot. The O’Reilly Factor former host reportedly loves purchasing homes.

Sadly…

We have confirmed only two of them. But don’t worry! We know how much they’re worth.

So let’s get the ball rolling…

Bill O’Reilly Houses

Bill O'Reilly Houses

O’Reilly currently resides in his Manhasset, Long Island, New York home. It’s a 4,631-square foot estate worth $3 million.

Bill O'Reilly Houses

The other one is a sweet little bungalow on a bluff with an ocean view in Montauk. Yes, it’s simple and peaceful – and it’s worth $7.65 million!

Bill O’Reilly Philanthropy

Political commentator Bill O’Reilly is an advocate for veteran support. His nonprofit organization, the Independent Fund, is dedicated to helping wounded veterans gain back their mobility and start a new life.

In 2012, his foundation raised $614,000 in contributions. After gaining public attention, the funds skyrocketed to a $19 million threshold.

Then he decided to do more.

After granting $7 million to different beneficiaries from 2003 to 2015, O’Reilly expanded the charities he donated to. His new beneficiaries include Catholic-related institutions, the Apollo Theater, and humanitarian programs like Doctors Without Borders.

Fun Facts About Bill O’Reilly Net Worth

  • While he worked for WNEP-TV in Pennsylvania, Bill wrote jokes for a Saturday night monster movie show called Uncle Ted’s Ghoul School.
  • During his high school years, he knew Billy Joel! In an interview with CenterStage, Bill described the American singer-songwriter as a “hoodlum” who was with the kids who smoked rather than with the jocks like himself.
  • While he was still attending Boston University, he was also working as a teacher in Florida.
  • Stephen Colbert, one of O’Reilly’s biggest satirical critics, revived his show The Colbert Report to pay tribute to his “nemesis” during Bill’s ouster.

5 Bill O’Reilly Lessons For Financial Freedom

  1. Have a backup plan. You don’t know when sexual assault allegations would come after you. Just kidding! But it’s best to have a safety net for when the going gets rough.
  2. Invest in properties – and don’t go around squealing about all of them.
  3. Give back to the community – to as many as you can. It will make your net worth more meaningful.
  4. Invest in your dreams. If you think you need improvement, go ahead and keep learning. It might be expensive to keep going back to college but when it starts paying, it pays well.
  5. Your thoughts may just be worth something! Get that from one of the highest-paid TV hosts of all time.

Top 3 Quotes From Bill O Reilly

  • “The traditional American family has always been the foundation for success in America.”

American celebrities are constantly under surveillance, and every word they say is subject to scrutiny. So, be careful what you wish for if you desire fame. No human being should be a goldfish.”

  • “Your mom was right when she told you never to discuss politics and religion because emotions run so high in those arenas. Especially religion.”
