Who Is Al Roker?

Al Roker Net Worth

As a weather anchor, Al Roker’s net worth might just be a little too high. But he’s not just the New York City guy who brings you either the sun or the clouds every day.

He’s got a lot on his sleeves!

He’s the current weather anchor on both ‘The Today Show’ andThe Weather Channelon NBC News. He’s also a published author of a bunch of non-fiction books. The list includes novels like The Midnight Show Murders which was nominated for a Nero Award in 2011.

He also has self-help literature and even cookbooks! Al Roker is a foodie who battled weight loss for years. He remarked that it was a struggle for him to live with Deborah Roberts, a fit and active woman and very much aware of her health. Ultimately, Roker underwent gastric bypass surgery.

How did he get here?

He first anchored on CBS affiliate WHEN-TV in 1974. Then in 1978, he worked in WKYC in Cleveland. NBC then owned it. That was how he got to New York City in 1983. He was the weekend weathercaster for NBC’s flagship outlet, WNBC-TV. In just about eight months, Roker became the regular weeknight weathercaster.

For years, Roker filled in for a lot of well-known anchors of the network. Until 1995 when he hosted his CNBC weekend talk show, The Al Roker Show. Then he gained even more popularity when he appeared as a guest on ‘Late Night with David Letterman’. Roker became the forecaster for ‘Weekend Today’ after that.

Since that year, he hosted NBC’s coverage of the ‘Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade’.

In 1996, Roker semi-retired from NBC’s “Today”  to focus on the network’s regular weekday weather slot. But he wasn’t content being a weatherman…

Roker just had to co-host the third hour, ‘Today’s Take’, the third-hour program of ‘Today’, in 2012. Five years later, ‘Megyn Kelly Today’ replaced the show. But his audience didn’t fret, for in 2018, Roker showed up again as a ‘3rd Hour Today’ co-host.

Then he breaks a record!

Al held a Guinness World Record for his 34-hour non-stop weather forecast on NBC in 2014. He called it the “Roker-thon”.

His “Roker-thon 2” in 2015 set a record for his week-long weather reporting from all 50 states, plus Washington D. C. Then, in 2017, Al visited colleges to set world records on each one. Including the longest conga line on ice and the largest human letter. All for “Roker-thon 3”!

After his fist bump with the newly-inaugurated President Joe Biden in 2021, the audience is left hanging on what Al Roker’s about to do next.
