Franklin Graham Books: Christian at heart and Evangelist at his job, William Franklin Graham III, commonly known as Franklin Graham, has been spreading the message of Jesus Christ since his ordination in 1982.

On July 14, 1952, he was born in Asheville, NC, USA, to evangelist Billy Graham and his wife, Ruth Graham. As a child and teenager, he was a bit of a rebel and was even expelled from school once.

Yep, that’s right!

He kept a female batchmate outside past curfew. Shocking right? It wasn’t until 1973 that he got enlightenment after joining Robert Pierce on a relief mission to Asia. After seeing the people in poverty struck countries, Franklin got enlightenment and chose the path of Christ.

All for Jesus Christ:

  • In 1974, after graduating from Anderson College of North Carolina, Franklin visited Jerusalem and had a spiritual rebirth. He later joined Samaritan’s Purse.
  • In 1979, he succeeded Samaritan’s Purse as a president after the death of Bob Pierce.
  • In 1982, he got ordained by the Grace Community Church in Maricopa County, Arizona, USA.
  • In 1995, he joined Billy Graham Evangelistic Association as Vice president and later became the president in 2000.

Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA):

A non-profit organization founded in 1950 by Rev. Billy Graham in Minnesota that was later relocated to North Caroline. It provides global disaster relief and conducts evangelistic crusades known as festivals throughout America.

Franklin succeeded the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association after his father and carried on his legacy. He led the organization to the age of the internet and launched many projects.

Such as:
  • Launching of  “Billy Graham Channel on SiriusXM.
  • BGTV, BGEA audio Productions, and World Wide Pictures, which launch many inspiring stories about faith.
  • God Loves You Tour
  • BG Prayer Line
  • Rapid Response Team
  • TV Telephone Ministry
And better yet…

“Search for Jesus,” an internet evangelism ministry of BGEA that shares the Christian Gospel online. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association also launched Decision and Christianity Today Magazines.

The Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization and the Internet Evangelism Coalition, and Billy Graham Library, located at the site of headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, are also some of the achievements of BGEA.

Also,

He shared some interesting stories about Samaritan’s Purse ministry. Graham Family’s and his own experiences involving politics and politicians, especially Franklin and Billy Graham’s relationships with American presidents and other people and pastors’ views.

Franklin also discusses that in this fast-paced world where things are ever-changing and we are confused and committing sin, sitting in front of a computer screen today, he reminds us that there are absolutes in Lord’s kingdom and “That’s the only thing we’ve got.”

On the contrary…

But that’s not all…

The book also illustrates what a great man of faith Reverend Billy was, a devoted follower of Lord Christ and a role model to many.  A man who preached God’s word to humanity for seventy years passionately and faithfully.

And in this age of fast-paced technology and materialism where everyone wants freedom from moral absolutes, Billy Graham still expressed his emotions saying he had hope for the future because of Jesus.

#8. The Sower (2012)

By Franklin Graham and Donna Lee Toney

Franklin Graham Books

The book is a great thirty-one-chapter devotional, sharing the teachings of The Sower. Each parable is given a great explanation along with the questions, giving Lord’s salvation to the ones lost.

In the olden biblical days, it was common for people to gather around to listen to Jesus’s words. Irrespective of the people’s views, whether positive or negative, he kept guiding them to the right path as Franklin says, “The Son of Man sowed the seed of truth into stony hearts and thirsty souls.”

Also,

There is a vast amount of spiritual knowledge you can gain from the parables of Sower as you follow in his steps. These devotionals guide you to the road of redemption shown by God.

His forgiveness and hope for people from the parable show us that not everyone can get enlightenment, but we should follow in Jesus’s steps anyway. And continue to state the truth about our God who saves.

#9. Rocks, Dirty Birds, and Briars (2016)

By Franklin Graham and Donna Lee Toney

Franklin Graham Books

The book is a powerful reminder of our obligations and what we are doing living in this world. It has some great insight into the parable of the sower who went out to sow.

In the parable of the sower, it was foretold how this incompetent world would deny the teachings of God. How the righteous and just people would be maltreated, and their lives would be made difficult.

In short,

Rocks, Dirty Birds, and Briars are just used as similes for hardened hearts, enemies of the Gospel, and fast-paced media causing noise, making people unable to hear or understand anything. Yet, they can’t hold back the true word of God.

His words are the seeds that we all are called forth to plant and nurture, seeds that produce virtues like obedience, truthfulness, and holiness in its fruits.

The coming generations might have different views about Rev. Billy, but he was a father to Franklin. Franklin explained everything about pastor Billy Graham in great detail. Saying he may have his own life and success but the base for all that were the lessons taught by his father.

He said:

“My father left behind a testimony to God, a legacy not buried in a grave but still pointing people to a heaven-bound destiny. The Lord will say to my father, and to all who served Him obediently, Well done, good and faithful servant (Matthew 25:21).”
