John Fogerty Songs: John Cameron Fogerty is a legendary musician who has won numerous awards for his work. He is best known for his time with the band Creedence Clearwater Revival.
He served as the lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist in the famous band.
Together with Doug Clifford, Stu Cook, and Tom Fogerty, they created Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR).
John Fogerty and Bruce Springsteen covered it when they played Asbury Park juke joints.
Berkeley, California, is where the future legend was born in 1945. His father was a musician, and he was exposed to music from an early age.
Fogerty’s mother, Lucile Fogerty, was a homemaker. He has two older sisters, Kathleen and Suzanne.
Fogerty was exposed to music at an early age.
When he was three, his father taught him to play the harmonica.
When he was eight years old, he first picked up a guitar and began playing it.
Fogerty attended El Cerrito High School, where he was a member of the band “The Blue Velvets.”
The band played a mix of rock and roll, R&B, and country music.
After graduating high school in 1963, Fogerty enlisted in the Army Reserve.
He served for six months before being honorably discharged.
In 1964, Fogerty formed the band Creedence Clearwater Revival with his brother Tom and John’s cousin Stu Cook.
The group had massive success, releasing hits such as “Proud Mary” and “Bad Moon Rising.”
His songs include “Fortunate Son,” “Down on the Corner,” and “Who’ll Stop the Rain.”
In 1993, they were admitted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Fogerty embarked on a solo career after Creedence Clearwater Revival disbanded in 1972. He has released thirteen studio albums, including the Grammy-winning “Eye of the Zombie.”
Today, Fogerty is considered one of the greatest rock musicians of all time. He was also given the Kennedy Center Honors in 2013.
