In January of 2000, David had to take a break from hosting The Late Show because of a heart surgery. Weight loss could’ve helped him, but it was Dr. Louis Aronne who saved his life.

Since then, he became more conscious of his health and eating habits and continued to be under Dr. Aronne’s care. He even wrote a credit on Dr. Aronne’s book, “The Skinny On Losing Weight Without Being Hungry,” about how he taught him good eating habits.

Since then, he has eaten healthier and is often seen jogging more since his retirement.
